Modbury host White City at Smith Partners Stadium at 3:00pm on Saturday 29 June in their top of the table Round 15 State League 1 clash.

After a break for Cup Final weekend, both teams will be eager to get back on the park to resume their battle for the State League 1 title. The Jets hold the advantage over second placed White City with a six point buffer and a vastly superior goal difference, however the Warriors are the only side to have beaten Modbury in the league in 2019.

Modbury had a convincing away victory at Seaford in Round 14 in a match that had the potential to be a real challenge, while White City shared the points with Sturt Lions to fall further behind the Jets. Shaun McGreevy and Josh Farrell, the former with a brace, both found the net against Seaford to continue their fine goal scoring form as they battle for the Golden Boot. Yet another clean sheet is testament to a solid Jets defence that has only conceded eight goals in fourteen league matches.

Modbury know that a win on Saturday will put them well clear of the chasers and position them to finish the season strongly on the way to clinching the title. A win to White City will see them right back in the race and put the pressure back on the Jets over the closing rounds.

It’s arguably the match of the season and a big crowd will be expected, including a large contingent of neutral supporters who will be looking forward to the spectacle. The Jets’ faithful will be hoping for a win that will set the club up for the run in to the title and promotion to the Premier League in 2020.

In Round 4 Modbury suffered its only league loss of the 2019 State League 1 season against White City going down 3-1 away. The two sides met three times in 2018 with White City getting the better of the Jets in the season opener with a 5-1 result and the Jets giving up a three goal lead to draw 3-3 at Smith Partners Stadium before Modbury got their revenge in week one of the Finals Series with a 2-1 victory away.
