Modbury host West Torrens Birkalla in their State League 1 Round 8 fixture at 3:00pm on Saturday 27 April.

After a break for Round 2 of the Cup, and a disappointing exit at the hands of Playford, the Jets turn their attention back to the league. A win against Birkalla will be important to ensure that Modbury holds on to top spot on the ladder.

Modbury have been good at home with three wins from three while only conceding two goals and will be expecting to keep their home record intact. After a slow start to the season, Birkalla are undefeated in their last four outings. It promises to be a tight encounter between two promotion contenders.

Despite the setback in the Cup, the Jets will be focused on their league campaign and know that they have the quality to get a result at home. While profligate in front of goal against the Patriots, Modbury have scored 23 in all competitions in 2019 while conceding only 9. The Jets will be wary of Birkalla but will be confident of taking the three points to stay at the top of a very congested table.

Modbury and Birkalla last faced each other during the 2015 Premier League campaign with the Jets suffering a 2-1 home loss, featuring a Kitto brace, and Birks comfortably winning their home fixture 3-0.
