Modbury welcomes reigning champions Croydon Kings to Jet Park for our Round 16 PS4 NPL clash on Saturday 6 June, with kick-off at 3:00pm.

Our Round 3 away fixture against the Kings saw us earn our first point of the 2015 campaign in a hard fought 1-1 draw. On that occasion, Nick Green was our scorer. It was the only point that we earned in the first six rounds of the competition which left Modbury propping up the table and seemingly in deep relegation trouble. We’ve come a long way since then and based on our recent form, the Jets will fancy their chances of taking the points at home however another spirited performance, much like the one that we turned in against Blue Eagles last Friday, will be necessary. The foundation for that famous victory was our defence which will again need to be disciplined against a very good Croydon side who will be looking to show their class as they desperately seek to reproduce their championship winning form of 2014.

While they have a Cup Final against Adelaide City to look forward to later in the month, the Kings will be looking for the points to put them in a position to challenge for the top six so that they are in a position to defend their title. Equally, the Jets will want to further ease their relegation fears while pushing on for a finals berth that seemed unlikely only a few weeks ago.  It promises to be an entertaining match and the Modbury faithful will no doubt be out in force to cheer on the home side.
